5 Keto New Year’s Resolutions to achieve amazing success on the Keto Diet may sound a little simple. However, let me assure you, it’s true. The Keto diet is simple.
In my opinion, I think we make the keto diet far too complicated or we expect too much to soon. So, let me break it down for you. Here are 5 simple Keto New Year’s Resolutions that are not difficult to understand. Furthermore, these resolutions are easy to put into practice and will help you achieve success beyond what you thought possible.
How I came up with the 5 Resolutions for a successful Keto New Year
It has been the privilege of my husband and I to mentor many of our friends on the keto diet. Because of this, we’ve had the opportunity to see their successes and their challenges. The two of us have also experienced plenty of our own. Through this observation and experience, I’ve noticed several common problem areas that tend to come up again and again. I’ll focus on the problems that are the most difficult to get a handle on.
Many of the challenges I’ve seen on the keto diet is a direct result of our conditioning. We are constantly bombarded with how we should think and feel about food. Unfortunately, this rarely matches up with the keto diet. Because of this conflicting narrative, we are left in a state of confusion and uncertainty.
The confusion and uncertainty can hold us back from embracing fully the keto lifestyle. It’s hard to jump in when our family and friends think it’s their job to set us straight. Fortunately, there are more and more studies pointing to the fact that a low-carb, high-fat lifestyle is beneficial. Likewise, the medical community is also taking notice. The keto lifestyle is here to stay.
5 Keto New Year’s Resolutions for Amazing Success on the Keto Diet
Keto New Year’s Resolution #1: I will not obsess over my macro ratio’s
I agree it’s necessary to know what your macro’s are on a keto diet but don’t let it become an obsession. You don’t need to be perfect to be successful and it will only drive you crazy in the process. Relax.
Keto New Year’s Resolution #2: I will accept the fact that fat is my friend
Healthy fats are front and center on a keto diet. Unfortunately, we have been conditioned to believe that fat is the enemy even though there is little proof that this is true. In contrast, numerous studies have shown that fats can improve our heart health, brain health, type 2 diabetes, and so much more. Fat is your friend and will improve your health and well being.
Keto New Year”s Resolution #3: I will be aware of the hidden carbs in the foods I eat
Too many carbs will kick you out of ketosis and prevent you from reaping it’s amazing benefits. Therefore, it is important to be a good detective and sniff out all the hidden carbs in the foods you eat. They add up and they do matter. Read your labels and know what’s in the food you eat.
Keto New Year’s Resolution #4: I will choose to focus on how I feel and not a number on the scale
Weight loss is finicky on the keto diet and comes in starts and stops. It is rarely consistent. However, your body doesn’t lie. After the initial keto flu, you will feel more energetic and will notice a difference in body composition. Focus on these things and give your weight loss a chance to catch up.
Keto New Year’s Resolution #5: I will embrace the fact that eating the Keto way is a lifestyle and not a short term fix
Once you start to see and feel the benefits of keto you quickly recognize it’s value. Keep this in mind and don’t stress over the little things. If you mess up now and again, your body will let you know. Remember this is a lifestyle and one that you should be able to continue for a lifetime. Go easy on yourself and keto on.
